Westward Ho! Day 6: RV troubles in Albuquerque!
Share
You know, a friend once told us a camper trip with kids doesn't get really fun until things go sideways – and today, it got real! We were cruising through Albuquerque, dreaming of the Petrified Forest & Wigwam Hotel (Cozy Cone, anyone?), when our tire pressure monitor started screaming. Parked right behind a Taco Cabana (yum!), we discovered it was a bit more than a glitch – hello, broken axle!

This area has become notorious for our family. Just ask Connor from his wild cross county trip - blizzards, stranded, frostbite, and more!
BUT, if you gotta get stranded, doing it in the parking lot of a Taco Cabana AND a giant thrift store? Honestly, that’s a dream come true for this crew!
While I supervised some retail therapy (and maybe indulged a little myself!), Caleb heroically ran around town. The first shop couldn't fix it till Labor Day (yikes!), but they kindly pointed him to someone who could tackle our axle rebuild ASAP. So thankful for helpful folks!
And guess what? Those hotel points we’ve been saving came in clutch! We’re now unexpectedly enjoying a FREE hotel stay with a beautiful pool overlooking the Albuquerque mountains while "Buzz" gets his spa day. With Taco Cabana leftovers and turkey sandwiches, we’ve got some very happy campers... I mean, hotel-ers tonight! Definitely not the day we planned, but we're rolling with it, finding the blessings, and maybe even enjoying this little detour.

Sometimes the biggest hiccups lead to unexpected joys (and thrift store treasures!).
