Westward Ho! Canyons, Sunsets & a Wild Surprise! (Day 24)
Share
After a slow pancake breakfast, we headed out to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The views from the south rim and Artist Point were breathtaking, even if we had to drive instead of hike because our little ones had other plans!

Later, we discovered beautiful bike trails and a huge lakeshore right near our campground—we always seem to find the best spots right before we have to leave! For our last night at Fishing Bridge, we grabbed some delicious huckleberry ice cream sandwiches and went for a sunset drive along Yellowstone Lake, hoping to spot a bear.

The drive was stunning, especially the high overlook at Lake Butte, but no bears were out. Just as we’d given up and started back, we saw cars pulled over. There it was—a grizzly bear, lumbering along a high ridge! It was the most incredible end to the day. We drove back with the last rays of sun sinking, watching the almost-full moon turn the lake a beautiful purpley hue. Every part of this park is so different and so amazing.
