Stories Behind the Blend: Blueberry Jubilee
Back in the summer of 2013, we kicked things off with nothing but a bit of tea and a heap of compost. Our humble beginning blossomed into what you now know as Piper and Leaf Tea Company. It's funny how most of our Behind the Blend stories start with a simple ask from a friend or a lightbulb moment from our daily lives. But, Blueberry Jubilee? Its' story has grown and changed with us through the years.
Blueberry Jubilee isn't just a tea blend; it's the culmination of a decade, now eleven years, of hard work and togetherness. We've learned that sometimes you've got to work harder, not smarter, and that's exactly what we've done.
The Year of Our Jubilee
In our early years, we crafted a white tea blend called "Madame Blueberry." While we thought it was good, there were a few things about it that didn't quite meet our standards. We spent time tweaking and adjusting it, trying to get it right. Despite our time and efforts, there was something about it, something missing, that we couldn't quite figure out, so we decided to just scrap it and come back to it later.
In 2023, as we celebrated 10 wonderful years of tea and community, we could not think of a better way to commemorate this occasion than with a new tea blend! That's when it hit us. Why not pick up where we left off and give another try at a caffeinated blueberry blend?
So with many more years of experience under our belt, we set afoot to pick up where we left off with Madame Blueberry. The result was our beloved Blueberry Jubilee. While Madame blueberry was a white tea blend, we decided that green tea was our missing piece and best complemented our fresh, Alabama blueberries. Accompanied by butterfly pea flowers, Blueberry Jubilee boasts with its' vibrant purple hue, pleasing to the taste and eyes!
Blending the tea is only half the work! After crafting each blend comes the naming process.When deciding what to name this delicious and refreshing green tea blend, we felt it only right that the name should reflect just that! With blueberries playing the star of the show and our celebration of 10 years of Piper and Leaf, the name "Blueberry Jubilee" was at the top of our list. Coincidentally, two of our younger family members, Benny and Jubilee, helped solidify the name of this blend! With Benny holding the nickname "Blueberry" and Jubilee... well, with her name, we knew that naming the tea "Blueberry Jubilee" was meant to be!
A Jubilee of Health
A jubilee is a celebration and you can't help but taste the celebration with fresh, locally sourced blueberries in every sip of Blueberry Jubilee. Blueberries are tiny health heroes! The thing about growth and learning is that it's an ongoing journey. We're not just celebrating our past successes; we're looking ahead to the future, hand in hand with you. This blend is a tribute to resilience and the gratification of working hard, and to you, who've been with us through thick and thin for all these years. So here's to many more years of tea and community, wherever this crazy, tea filled journey may lead us!
