Westward Ho! How We Got It – We Need a Vehicle!
Share
Caleb and Brigette are getting ready for an exciting Western adventure this spring (check out our other posts about the trip here and help us plan it!).
After a whirlwind couple of weeks, we suddenly found ourselves with a new travel trailer. And that’s when we realized:
- We didn’t have a vehicle capable of pulling it,
- We knew absolutely nothing about the world of RVs and trailers, and
- If we were going to own this trailer, we’d better figure out how to actually enjoy it! So, we dove in and got to work on figuring out those three things (along with just how to use the thing in general).
Here’s what we learned:
- Our van could pull Buzz (the name we settled on for the trailer), but we’d need an upgrade before taking it on any serious elevation changes
- The world of RVs was a bit overwhelming at first, but the more we learned, the more we fell in love with it, and
- If we were going to own this awesome travel trailer, we might as well use it while the getting was good!
Around this time, some of our best friends returned from a week in Yellowstone National Park, and after showing us their pictures, the decision was clear—we were going WEST!
After lots of searching, looking at dealerships all across North Alabama to find the perfect van to haul our family, our things, a lot of tea, and Buzz, we found it! Now that we have the the van and trailer, we can keep on trucking with our westward dreams and trip planning!
Now, as we plan our westward travels, we’ve decided to add artwork across the side of our van—something that, when seen against the backdrop of the dry desert, makes you crave a jar of tea right then and there. We’re looking for art or an image paired with a short phrase that perfectly captures who we are at Piper & Leaf. Any ideas? Share them with us and submit your suggestions here!
