Piper & Leaf's Strawberry Shindig

Stories Behind The Blend: Strawberry Shindig

Happy Friday! If you haven't already tried our Strawberry Shindig blend yet, you're missing out on a real treat.

This was one of the first blends we introduced back in 2013, and it's been a fan favorite ever since. We initially called it Smashberry Tisane, but had to change the name a couple of years later due to a trademark issue.

The new name, Strawberry Shindig, has actually been much less confusing and more popular. Kind of like the journey from Samovar Gardens to Piper & Leaf – funny how things play out sometimes!

One of the things we're most proud of with this blend is that all the apples and strawberries we use are sourced locally in North Alabama and processed in our facility in Lacey's Spring. It’s always been difficult to source enough local fruits and herbs for what we need, but in the beginning years, it was especially difficult and so we weren’t able to have 100% locally sourced apples and strawberries.

Over the years, we've been able to find more local farmers and increase our production capacity. This commitment to using locally sourced ingredients not only ensures a high-quality product but also supports the local farming community. Receiving fresh and quality product is only one of the many benefits when partnering with local farmers, here are some more reasons to work with local foods.

Strawberry Shindig Ingredients all laid out

While Strawberry Shindig is a big celebration of strawberries and apples, it’s the other ingredients that really help them stand out. The bright red tartness of hibiscus, pop of rosehips, and hints of spearmint and lemongrass really round everything out.

Its fruity yet tart flavor profile makes it a great choice for iced tea, which is how we love to enjoy it during the spring and summer. Being caffeine free, it’s great for the whole family, any time of the day. We can hardly keep it around at our house, the kids drink it so fast!

Why don’t you make it a part of your next shindig? I bet it will be a hit!
