A bag of Velvet Bliss and a plate of Tea-Infused Cupcakes surrounded by candy hearts

Sweet-Tea Cupcakes

Cupcakes Infused with Tea!

Baking with concentrated tea is the best way to get a delicious and unique dessert using your favorite tea blend. Tea cupcakes are the perfect combination of sweet baked good infused with rich, complex tea flavor! We suggest making these fluffy cupcakes for your sweetie pie chai as a Valentine’s day treat using our seasonal Velvet Bliss.

But this tea-infused cupcake recipe is also amazing for treats any time of the year! Plus you can use concentrated tea from any blend you’d like in both the batter and the icing; you’ll have a different dessert every time. One Piper Family friend swears this recipe is best with Lemon Berry Blush cupcakes and Strawberry Shindig icing. Yum!

Cupcake Ingredients

Icing Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Velvet Bliss concentrate
  • Vanilla extract

Tea Cupcake Recipe

  1. Whip the butter until creamy, then add the powdered sugar and beat
  2. Add one egg, mix until combined, then add the other egg and beat again
  3. Now you can slowly add the rest! Add about 1/4 cup flour to the mixture and carefully beat. Then add a little bit of the buttermilk and concentrated tea and blend it in. Continue this way until all ingredients are combined
  4. Pour your batter into paper-lined, regular-sized* cupcake forms and bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes until they’re done. Be sure to use a toothpick or cake tester to ensure your cupcake is finished in the middle

*This recipe also makes delicious mini-cupcakes! If you’re using a small cupcake pan for tiny tea cupcakes, you will want to reduce the baking time by about 4 minutes (and keep a close eye on them!)

And the Icing on Top

Allow your tea-infused cupcakes to cool completely before icing them! Otherwise the icing will melt and the result will be quite messy. Here's how to mix your icing:

  1. Whip the butter until creamy
  2. Slowly add the powdered sugar to the butter, mixing well as you go
  3. Stir in your Velvet Bliss concentrate and add a couple drops of vanilla extract
  4. Whip the icing until it’s thick and creamy. Now it’s ready to add to your cooled cupcakes! For additional decoration, add sprinkles or candy hearts!

Love the idea of steeping Velvet Bliss into both the cupcakes and the icing, that tea-forward layering sounds fantastic. I collect standout dessert ideas on Vidssave and this recipe is going straight onto my weekend baking list.
